Laura Jefferson
Dr Laura Jefferson is a Senior Research Fellow in Health Workforce and Policy at the University of Manchester, specialising in primary care workforce research.
​
Laura was awarded an NIHR Advanced Fellowship to support PROPSER-GP.
​
Her widely cited work on gender differences in doctors’ careers continues to inform NIHR-funded research that seeks to understand how to support women GPs to thrive in their roles.

Kath Checkland
Kath is a Professor of Health Policy and Primary Care at the University of Manchester and a retired GP. Her research focuses on the organisation and delivery of health care, with particular expertise in NHS policy, commissioning, and the interface between policy and practice.
She co-leads the Health Policy, Politics and Organisation (HOPE) research group and works closely with policymakers to ensure her research informs practice.

Sutton
Matt is a Professor of Health Economics and co-lead of the Health Organisation, Policy and Economics (HOPE) research group at the University of Manchester.
His research focuses on healthcare financing, organisation, workforce, and health behaviours, employing micro-econometric techniques to evaluate financial and non-financial incentives, resource allocation formulae, and workforce dynamics.

Maria is a Professor of Health Services Research and Primary Care based the University of Manchester.

Marie leads ambitious global health research programmes in low and middle-income countries, in addition to her UK work.

Evan Kontapantelis
Prof Evangelos (Evan) Kontopantelis is a Data Science & Health Services Research expert. Evan holds degrees in computational statistics and machine learning and has a long track record in research in health informatics with a focus on quality of care, inequalities and evaluating interventions. His methodological interests include statistical methods in health sciences with a focus on meta-analysis, longitudinal data modelling, observational studies with electronic health records, spatial epidemiology, machine learning and quasi-experimental designs.

Rosa
Parisi
Dr Rosa Parisi works with large administrative and primary care databases such as NHS Digital data and the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) to investigate healthcare services, epidemiological and pharmacoepidemiologic research questions.

She was awarded the Dean's Prize Fellowship by the University of Manchester with a project on the epidemiology of multimorbidity.

Yiu-Shing
Lau
Dr Yiu-Shing Lau is a researcher specialising in econometrics and healthcare policy evaluation.
​
His work includes assessing Devo-Manc’s impact on health budgets, the relationship between formal and informal care, and new models of primary care.
​
He also contributes to the CLASSIC project, evaluating primary care access for over-65s.
